Florida Mission of Mercy

February 24-25, 2023

7AM to 7PM

Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds

9067 Southern Blvd

West Palm Beach, FL 33411

It takes many volunteers to serve our patients!

We could not provide quality dental care for more than 2,000 patients in two days without wonderful volunteers like YOU!!!

  • In addition to our need for volunteers during the two-day clinic, we need volunteers to help set up the clinic on Wednesday, February 22nd and Thursday, February 23rd.  Please consider helping if your schedule allows.
  • It is also important to note that although the clinic is a first come, first served event on February 24-25, we do offer a very limited number of pre-registration appointments for veterans, community groups and medically fragile patients during the afternoon of Thursday, February 23rd.  Patients interested in becoming a pre-registered patient must contact the FDA Foundation and will be screened and added to the list on a limited basis.
  • The pre-registration appointment on Thursday, February 23rd enables the patient to complete all necessary paperwork and visit with the patient education, medical triage, radiology, dental triage and routing departments.  The patient is then instructed to return to the clinic first thing on the morning of Friday, March 24th.  After visiting with the medical triage Friday morning, the patient is then taken to the clinical department to begin treatment.
  • Patient pre-registration enables the patient to bypass the long line and wait time for those who arrive on a first come, first served basis beginning Friday, February 24th.

Please read the following information carefully so that your registration will be accurate and complete.

  • Dentists and hygienists who wish to volunteer in a clinical capacity (i.e. providing treatment) must complete their volunteer registration by February 18, 2023 in order to verify licenses and enure that all clinical positions are filled.
  • Dentists and hygienists must have a clear and active license in order to provide treatment services to FLA-MOM patients.
  • Out-of-state dentists must register by January 15, 2023 in order to allow time for your credentials to be reviewed.  A separate survey will be emailed to you.
  • General volunteer registration will stay open through the duration of the event.
  • Due to liability reasons, all volunteers must be at least 18 years old to volunteer in the clinic.  Volunteers 16 or 17 years old may ONLY volunteer in the parking lot.
  • Please use your preferred name and email address when completing the volunteer registration.  All volunteer instructions regarding the 2023 Florida Mission of Mercy will be communicated via email.  Each registrant must have a unique email address.  Your name will appear on your name bade as you have entered it in the volunteer registration process.  For example, If you would like your name badge to read as "Dr. Joe", you must write "Dr. Joe" in the section for name badge information.

  • You may sign up for AM or PM shifts.  You may switch jobs or keep the same position.  Please select a position you will be comfortable performing for six to seven hours.  Hygienists may only work one hygiene shift per day but after the hygiene shift they can move to a different department.
  • Each shift has a maximum number of slots and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.  Since specialists are limited to practice in their specialty, we ask that general dentists consider signing up for shifts like restorative, dental triage, medical triage, etc.
  • Before the start of your first shift, you must check in at Volunteer Registration to receive your lanyard, namebadge, volunteer t-shirt and drawstring backpack.
  • Please note that all volunteers will receive an email after the event with their total volunteer service hours.  Clinical volunteers may use their volunteer certificate and self-report hours needed to appropriate agencies.
  • You will receive a confirmation email once your registration is complete.  If you need to edit your registration, please refer to your confirmation email and click the "Edit My Registration" link.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day.  Breaks may be taken as needed - please inform your lead when a break is needed.
