Description:

Plan to attend this lecture and panel discussion about planning your future! Transitioning to practice ownership opens up professional and financial opportunities and can be your ticket to professional and financial freedom. The ability to make your own clinical decisions and run the practice to your standards is a dream for most doctors. Unfortunately, the path to ownership can be confusing or seem overwhelming at times.

This lecture will help you develop strategies to make a successful jump from new dentist to owner of a healthy dental practice. This informative course will guide new dentists through several case studies which will aid in the creation of a successful strategy. Attendees will learn techniques to successfully navigate student loans, associate positions and ensure a positive transition to the lifestyle they’ve been dreaming of while also understanding the unique differences between corporate dentistry versus practice ownership. Learn how to find and acquire the right practice and how to build a successful budget. During this course, attendees will dive deep into the end-to-end process of starting a practice, understand the “dos and don’ts” of starting a practice from scratch, recognize the different types of due diligence when purchasing a dental practice, and have the opportunity to ask questions of subject matter experts and peers in a panel format.

Becoming a practice owner can be the most rewarding experience of your career, both personally and financially. The great news is that owning a practice can happen as early as 12 months out of dental school with the right planning and an experienced team to help you.

Learning objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • understand why you should be pre-approved and how to leverage your buying power in the market.
  • find the right location for a dental practice and how to market towards new patients.
  • interpret the forms provided by brokers and which information determines cash flow.
  • identify key members of your team to help make the process easier.
  • recognize the timeline and path of ownership whether you want to buy or start from scratch.
  • identify the questions you should be asking yourself before you make the jump into ownership.
  • understand some of the biggest mistakes of those who transitioned into ownership.
