Description:

This lecture will address basic patient safety strategies, Florida-specific requirements and common sources of dental risk and liability. The course will include dental closed claims data, case studies, audience participation and some humor. Just because it’s mandatory doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun! This course is a repeat of Ms. Boisvert’s lecture (RM1-4) on Friday, June 30 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. This lecture satisfies the Florida Board of Dentistry’s continuing education requirement for medical errors.

Learning objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • assess for provider and patient factors that contribute to common performance and diagnostic errors.
  • analyze dentistry errors and implement proven strategies to improve patient safety in your practice.
  • educate staff about when and how to respond appropriately when an adverse event or near miss occurs.
