Orthodontic tooth movement can be used to establish an optimal foundation for functional and aesthetic restorations. This lecture will highlight the benefits of an interdisciplinary approach with an emphasis on prescription orthodontics to enhance restorative and periodontal objectives.

Learning objectives:
Participants will be able to:
- differentiate between adolescent versus adult orthodontics.
- identify common dental problems that exist in adult patients requiring restorative and periodontal procedures.
- understand adjunctive orthodontics managed in an interdisciplinary manner can help general dentists produce exceptional restorative/periodontal outcomes for dental problems in their adult patients.
- manage gingival levels to obtain best aesthetic outcomes by choosing between orthodontic tooth movement, periohow dontal surgical intervention or both.
