Tooth whitening is easy, rewarding and profitable. Most dental hygienists don’t think they need a whitening refresher course, but do you know how to answer your patients’ questions about tooth whitening: How long does it last? Can it hurt my teeth? What about sensitivity? And your own questions: How does tooth whitening work? Should I offer chairside or take-home materials? What about a combination of chairside and take-home? Are they worth it? Do the over-the-counter whitening products work? How does “whitening toothpaste” work? Let’s talk about the advantages and disadvantages of tooth whitening!

Learning objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • learn the science and claims of light-activated whitening technology.
  • understand how to better integrate whitening into your practice?.
  • discover whitening options for different situations and patients.
  • understand the science and marketing of whitening toothpastes.
  • discuss teeth with white spot lesions.
  • identify ways to prevent and treat post-whitening tooth sensitivity.
