Today’s dental plans have added more benefits for patients with systemic issues because the marketplace has spoken. Data shows that 56% of health insurers believe they will be bigger in the market as dental is absorbed into overall health insurance. Dental plans have been brought on as partners to health insurance as two products with shared or separate premiums. The biggest change recently includes adding Medicare Advantage Plans. This deep dive will help participants understand the proper way to choose which way to bill. Even if your office is a fee-for-service office, you want to control the billing since the doctor’s National Provider Identifier is on every claim form. Attendance is limited to 45.

Learning objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • learn the updated data needed to obtain for both dental and medical billing.
  • understand risk assessments are needed to obtain additional coverage.
  • evaluate key steps, and how an encounter is billing instead of an office visit.
  • diagnose if the patient is primary, since it tells the insurance why this patient is a medical necessity.
  • determine who is a medical necessity with an updated health history.
  • learn diagnostic tools to better understand, along with the patient, the reason you may provide additional treatments under dental or medical billing for treatment not covered under dental.

Participant Requirements:

Laptop computer and a copy of one redacted patient chart information the attendee wants to bill to medical.
