Description:
In this hands-on workshop, attendees will learn what Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is by going through the process of obtaining it and applying it, get firsthand experience drawing blood and putting it through the centrifuge process, and apply that knowledge to see how PRF allows predictable regeneration and accelerated healing for an overall increase of treatment success. The knowledge you gain in PRF though this course can apply to various implant surgical procedures, wound healing, hard- and soft-tissue healing, along with use in facial aesthetics and hair regeneration. See the advantages of PRF compared to platelet-rich plasma, including: ease of preparation, ease of application, minimal expense and lack of biochemical modification (no bovine thrombin or anticoagulant is required). This considerably reduces the biochemical handling of blood as well as risks associated with the use of bovine derived thrombin. PRF also contains physiologically available thrombin that results in slow polymerization of fibrinogen into fibrin which results in a physiologic architecture that is favorable to wound healing. This is a two-part course (C59 and W28) that is best attended as a full-day experience for comprehensive learning. However, attendees may choose to take the workshop course only. Attendance is limited to 30.

Learning objectives:
Participants will be able to:
- learn how to incorporate platelet rich fibrin (PRF) into their practice.
- use the centrifuges to fabricate PRF and sticky bone by practicing drawing blood on each other.
- develop excellent chairside manner.
Participant Requirements:
Attendees must provide proof of current professional liability insurance two weeks prior to attend with the expiration date included. The Florida Dental Association (FDA) assumes no liability if a participant is refused coverage by an insurer for any reason or is unable to obtain materials for use in practice.
