Description:
The “Wonderful World of Special Care” is an interactive course that puts attendees in the shoes of many patients. This deep dive course contains simulations that will leave attendees with a newly formed empathy for patients struggles in the dental office. Step out of your world and into your patients’ as Dr. Fukuoka reviews how different disabilities alter the dental office experience. If you sit in the “splash zone,” be prepared for an interactive experience that will increase your heart rate and make you a little uncomfortable. Attendance is limited to 40.

Participants will be able to:
- have a better understanding of what it feels like to be blind in the dental office through simulation.
- practice non-verbal communication.
- witness the difference visual aids make when communicating with someone who has difficulty hearing.
- understand how to alter the environment to influence behavior.
