Description:

This lecture will provide attendees with an overview of the legislative intent of Florida's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), its operation and available data to provide better patient care. Attendees will have the opportunity to obtain knowledge and insight from a panel of four speakers about the PDMP database that will enhance patient experiences, their prescription drug management and overall experience between medical professionals and pharmacists. Attendees will be able to ask questions that may be specific to their needs and experiences.

Learning objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • learn about the PDMP and Electronic-Florida Online Reporting of Controlled Substances (E-FORCSE).
  • understand the role of the Florida PDMP Foundation.
  • review laws and rules surrounding the prescribing and dispensing of controlled substances.
  • understand disciplinary actions related to the PDMP requirements.
  • recognize the value of the PDMP database information.
  • discuss prescribing information technology.
  • learn the best practices for PDMP application.
