Description:

What’s old is new and the use of silver to slow down decay has been around since the time of G.V. Black. However, the formula of Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is new to dentistry and trending in use, especially in pediatric dentistry. This workshop will explore SDF’s history in dentistry, how it was used and how it has become a new interim caries-arresting medication of choice. Dr. Ursitti will go over case presentations of use in pediatric patients and the protocol on how it is presently being used. This workshop also will describe the success of using Silver Modified Atraumatic Restorative Therapy (SMART Techniques), which combines SDF and glass ionomer cement for use in pediatric patients. This workshop will concentrate on showing the best technique for using SDF for anterior and posterior teeth, as well as restoring posterior teeth by using the SMART Techniques and the restorative layering technique. Attendance is limited to 15.
