Description:

Few dental errors are attributed to faulty medical judgment; the majority are attributed to system failures inherent in health care delivery. By analyzing professional liability closed-claim data, common performance and diagnostic errors have been identified that will serve as the focal point of this risk management course. This course is a repeat of Ms. Wessels' lecture (RM1-4) on Friday, June 25 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. This course satisfies the Florida Board of Dentistry's continuing education requirement for medical errors.

Learning objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • describe a root cause analysis.
  • identify patient safety goals.
  • recognize error reduction and prevention strategies.
