Description:
Successful completion of complex cases many times requires the coordinated efforts of the restorative dentist and one or more specialist. Communication problems with the patient and between offices can present challenges to the acceptance of the overall treatment plan as well as the sequence of steps to be completed in an efficient and effective manner. This course will illustrate solutions to common problems encountered when treating complex patients from proper referrals to sharing pertinent clinical information. Developing a team approach not only ensures excellent outcomes, but also increases new patient referrals who need complex comprehensive treatment.

Learning objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • identify and build a network of specialists — including a lab technician — who can work together for the benefit of the patient.
  • develop a referral protocol and track patient progress throughout the case.
  • document the case to build a library of before-and-after photos.
  • understand the benefits of collaborative treatment with multiple specialists.
